Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 October 2026
In short: we collect what we need to run the game (your account, your games and your messages), we never sell it, and we use Google for Street View and ads, Stripe for payments and Cloudflare to keep the site fast and safe. You can ask us to see or delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected].
Far Fetched (https://far-fetched.app) is operated by Rothwell Creative Concepts ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Far Fetched, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, for players in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: username, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash; we can never see your actual password.
- Profile details you choose to add: avatar, bio and home country.
- Messages: direct messages you send to friends are stored so both of you can read them. Chat in lobbies and matches is kept only while the lobby or match is open (and for about 15 minutes after a match), unless it is reported.
- Reports: if you report a player, we store your report and, where relevant, a copy of the messages involved so a moderator can review them.
- Support emails you send us.
Information created when you play
- Game data: the matches you play, modes, scores, number of guesses, wins, placements, experience points and level, friends list and friend requests.
- Activity: when you were last online, and whether you are currently online (shown on your profile).
- Miles, items and achievements: your Miles balance and a history of what you earned and spent, the cosmetic items you own and have equipped, your achievements and the stats used to track them.
- Moderation records: warnings, mutes, bans and other moderator actions on your account.
- Purchases: if you buy Remove ads or a Miles pack, we keep a record of the payment (Stripe's reference number, the amount, currency, status and date). We never receive or store your card details.
Guest players
If you play as a guest, we create a temporary account with the name you picked and no email or password. Guest accounts and their game history are deleted automatically after 30 days without play.
Technical information
Like any website, our servers and our providers receive your IP address and basic browser information when you connect. We use IP addresses briefly to prevent abuse (for example, limiting repeated log-in attempts); we do not store them in your account.
2. Cookies and similar storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
ff_session | Far Fetched | Essential. Keeps you signed in (or remembers your guest account) for up to 30 days. It cannot be used to track you on other sites. |
Browser storage (ff_modes, ff_identity) | Far Fetched | Essential. Remembers the game mode you last picked and keeps all your open tabs signed in as the same player. |
| Advertising cookies | Used to show and measure ads, and, where you allow it, to personalise them. See section 4. | |
| Security cookies | Cloudflare | Essential. Protect the site from bots and attacks. |
You can change your advertising choices at any time from the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the game. Blocking the essential cookie will stop you from staying signed in.
3. How we use your information
- To run the game: create your account, match you with other players, keep score, show leaderboards, levels and profiles, and deliver messages.
- To keep the community safe: enforce our Terms, review reports, and stop cheating, spam and abuse.
- To process your purchases (Remove ads and Miles packs) and any refunds, and to deliver the items you buy with Miles.
- To show ads that pay for the game (unless you have Remove ads).
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
For players in the EEA and UK, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the game and your purchase), our legitimate interests (keeping the game safe, fair and working), your consent (personalised ads), and legal obligations (for example, keeping payment records).
4. Advertising
Ads on Far Fetched are provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. You can learn how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and turn personalised ads off at Google My Ad Center. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Players with Remove ads see no ads at all.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Far Fetched, and only as much as they need:
- Google (Maps Platform and AdSense): Street View imagery is loaded directly from Google in your browser, and Google serves our ads. Google's use of this information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: processes Remove ads payments. Stripe receives your email address and payment details directly; see the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: delivers and protects the website.
- OVHcloud: hosts the server where the game and its database run.
Your profile is public: anyone can see your username, avatar, level, country flag, bio, stats, recent games and whether you are online. Your email address is never shown to other players.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our players or the public.
Overseas recipients
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and other countries where they operate. We choose providers with strong security and privacy commitments.
6. How long we keep it
- Accounts: while your account exists. When you delete your account (from your profile page, or by asking us), we remove your username, email, password, profile, friends and messages straight away. Your past match scores stay in other players' results under an anonymous name.
- Guest accounts: deleted automatically after 30 days without play.
- Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require (usually 5 to 7 years), even if your account is deleted.
- Moderation records and reports: kept while they are needed to keep the community safe.
7. Your choices and rights
You can update your avatar, bio and home country from your profile at any time. You can also ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your account and its data (you can also do this yourself with Delete my account at the bottom of your profile page);
- stop or restrict certain uses of your information, or object to them.
Email [email protected] from the address on your account (or tell us your username) and we will respond within 30 days. If you live in the EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In California and other US states with privacy laws, you have similar rights to know about, correct and delete your information, and we do not sell or share personal information for money.
8. Children
Far Fetched is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account. If you are under 18, please get a parent or guardian's permission before playing or buying anything. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The site is only available over encrypted HTTPS connections, passwords are hashed, and access to our server and database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the game changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and for significant changes we will let signed-in players know in the game.
11. Contact and complaints
Questions or concerns: [email protected]. If you are not happy with how we handle a privacy complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
